Most visitors to Sihanoukville travel from Phnom Penh by bus
Several bus companies run multiple daily a/c buses to/from Phnom Penh. Sihanoukville can also be approached by road from Kampot and Koh Kong city. There are several daily buses between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville Kampot and Kep.
And though there are no international flights or ferries to Sihanoukville, Cambodia Angkor Air now offers Sihanoukville-Siem Reap flights. The Sihanouk International Airport is on Route #4, 18km north of town.

Though currently not the usual point of entry, the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port is an official international gateway. Visas are available for international arrivals at the Port on prior arrangements.
Transport to the islands near Sihanoukville and Kep is also easy these days. Regularly scheduled ferries, including express ferries, run between Sihanoukville and Koh Rong/Koh Rong Sanloem, and boats from Kep and Kampot to Koh Tunsay (Rabbit Island) are always available.
The international border crossings at 1) Koh Kong/Had Lek (Thailand); 2) Prek Chak/Xa Xia (Vietnam) and; 3) Phnom Den/Tinh Bien, (Vietnam) all allow international overland access to southern Cambodia. The Had Lek/Koh Kong crossing allows easy access to Sihanoukville with regular bus service between Sihanoukville and Koh Kong. The Prek Chak crossing with Vietnam is open and allows direct and easy access between Kampot/Kep and Vietnam. Buses and Bus Schedules
A/c buses depart Phnom Penh several times per day. 24,000R – 52,000R for the 4-hour trip to Sihanoukville via Route #4. There is no centralized bus station in Phnom Penh. Buses from different companies depart from different stations. At Sihanoukville, all buses arrive/depart from the bus station near Independence Square.
